Frequently asked questions

Does this reduce quality?

No for JPG and PNG: the image data is copied untouched and only the metadata is removed. Photos with a rotation flag are re-saved at high quality so they stay the right way up.

Do social networks remove metadata already?

Most big platforms strip it from what others see, but email, messaging apps, cloud links and forums often don't.

What exactly is removed?

EXIF (camera, settings, date, GPS), XMP, IPTC, comments, and PNG text chunks. The color profile is kept so colors stay accurate.

Is it private?

Yes. Your images are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
